Interactive Learning

The CD-Rom is the unique result of a long running partnership project between Rotherham specialist school Aston Comprehensive, a Zanzibar village, local business and volunteers from the community.

Through the exchange programme, Aston school began to accumulate a vast amount of information about Zanzibar, its people and the way of life, but the data was difficult to co-ordinate and not easily accessible to students and teachers.

Target audience

Keane Creative developed a multimedia CD-Rom using video clips, graphics and voice recordings. This CD was primarily aimed at Key Stage 3 students in the 11-14 year age group to fit in with the National Curriculum around Geography, Citizenship and Development.

What did we achieve?

“We had this vast resource of material and it wasn’t being put to good use. As a geography teacher I could see that we could use all of the data we had collected to make learning about Geography and Citizenship fun and challenging,”
John Lyon.

The CD-Rom is being used in lessons at Aston Comprehensive but the school felt that the resource should be shared with other schools. Students on work experience at Keane Creative have recently completed a project to develop a users manual and teacher’s guide with ideas for lessons and class projects.
